What Is a Renewable Resource Example?

You’ve probably heard the debate about renewable versus non-renewable energy, but perhaps don’t quite understand what it means. What is a renewable resource example?

A renewable resource is something used to create energy that has a limitless quantity. There are several renewable energy sources, and we’ll go over several of them in this guide. They are the future of energy because non-renewable sources are finite.

For example, coal and natural gas are two non-renewable resources. When the supplies of these on the Earth run out, there is no way to create more. Learn about some of the renewable energy sources available today.

What Is a Renewable Resource Example: Solar

Is solar power renewable? If there is life on planet Earth, the sun will always be in the sky. Since there is no limit to sunshine, it’s considered a renewable resource. Many people and businesses choose solar panels because its one of the most inexpensive ways to generate electricity.

There is the initial upfront cost and installation of solar, but it pays for itself over time. Light from the sun hits photoelectric cells in the solar panels and converts it to electricity. It then is used to power items in your home.

If you have a battery system connected to it, then you can store the electricity and use it after the sun goes down.

You can have solar power in your home or business. Large businesses and municipalities can create solar farms to create large amounts of electricity

    Wind Energy

Throughout the country, wind farms popped up generating large amounts of clean energy. At higher elevations, there is a near-constant source of wind. Wind turbines are large windmills with blades that turn when the wind blows and creates electricity by turning a generator.

Often, there are hundreds of turbines in large open areas such as fields to create electricity. While there are smaller versions for personal home use, it hasn’t caught on as much as solar. Since the wind is always blowing, it’s a renewable resource.

    Hydroelectric Power

When people think of hydroelectricity, they envision Niagara Falls creating electricity, but it doesn’t have to be that large. The only requirement is water running fast enough to turn a turbine that creates electricity.

Since there isn’t a fast-moving water current everywhere, few people have hydroelectric power in their homes. Many cities use rivers and waterfalls to create hydroelectric power. It is one of the more expensive varieties of renewable resources, but as long as it doesn’t dry up, it will always be there.

    Renewable Resources Are the Future

What is a renewable resource example? Solar, Hydro, and wind are only a few of the many varieties available. With the eventual depletion of coal and other unrenewable resources, these are the future of electricity.

Homes and companies are investing in these methods to reduce their dependence on coal and other nonrenewable resources. If you want to know more about solar power, then please explore our site.
