Google has become so reliable that when you search for something and don’t find it on the first three pages, you either change the way you are searching or you assume it doesn’t exist?  People used to dig deep into the search engine results, in the early days of search engines, looking for something. There was a satisfaction in the hunt. Now, most people go to the sites listed on the first two, maybe three pages. The implication of this is that if your website does not appear in the first few pages, it might as well not appear anywhere at all… it is missing.

Of course, searching for a company name or a company website address should yield a result on the first page. But what if someone does not know the company name or website URL?  You want your website to be found by people who are looking for what you are selling, especially if they do not know your name or website (aka new customers).

There is no disputing that people visit websites that appear on the first page in search engine results morethan those sites buried past page 5. Why have a website if people cannot find it?   If a company does nothing to promote their site, it is not likely that they will be found in search engines.

How can your website be found on the only first page for keywords related to your business?  It helps to be a great site, visually attractive with a compelling message. But Google requires more than that. It is a complicated equation that determines placement in search engine results.

“Search Engine Optimization” or (SEO) is a great way to assist sites to rank higher than others.  A  NJ SEO company can help your website be more than just another pretty face.  Read this infographic from Landau Consulting to learn how to make sure your website does not go missing.
