When you apply for a job, you expect it to be challenging. But no employee would ever want to experience burnout. It cannot be denied that with the nature of work in most industries, burnout is inevitable. Employers, managers, and supervisors should know how to assess and recognize burnout in the workplace. Not all employees are open to discuss their struggles and hardships at work.

Symptoms of Burnout in the Workplace

Being aware of whether or not your staff is experiencing burnout is very important. Burnout does not only affect the performance of your employees at work, but also the overall productivity of the team or the company. The most common symptoms of burnout that you should know of include having thoughts of quitting because of the pressures at work, absenteeism, very low productivity, and ineffective decision making.

You should also be aware if there are any personal conflicts with co-workers or if they are already showing low interest and commitment to the job. When you notice any of these symptoms, you should find ways to prevent burnout as soon as possible.

    Work-Related Causes of Burnout

If you notice that any of your staff is suffering from the symptoms of burnout mentioned above, then you should know the reasons behind it. As their employer, you should know what you can do to make the workplace a healthy work environment that can once again make your employees happy. Some of the most common causes are as follows:

    • Understaffed – Work Overload. Being understaffed can cause work overload. If there are too many job demands and you only have a few people to work on it, then their productivity can be affected.
    • No Social Support and Feedback. Bosses and employees need to have a healthy professional relationship in the workplace. And with social support, they also need regular feedback, whether the employee did a great job, or needed to improve on it. Doing so will prevent your employees from feeling unappreciated.
    • Not Freedom To Make  Decision. Those in the higher ranks are not the only ones who should be left in making decisions. The votes of the employees should also be considered. When it comes to work-related decisions, you can let your employees decide.

Track Burnout At Work  with Mello

Employee burnout is very common. And sadly, nobody is immune to it no matter what industry they are in. But you should know that there are things that can be done to prevent it from happening. One is to try using this application called “Mello.” It is believed to help track the burnout status of every employee.
